AT MEADOWS CHURCH OF CHRIST
We believe that God has given to us His word that we might better come to know Him, ourselves, and the ministry to which He has called each one of us. Since His word is a reflection of who He is, we believe it is perfect and unchanging. We therefore believe it is possible to establish the 1st Century church of the Bible in a 21st Century world. Although methodologies do change (e.g., today we have access to electronic media they could never have imagined), we believe theology never does! So we strive to present, through our lives and our ministries, the message of Jesus found written on the pages of the Bible. Yet like the people in the Bible we know we are not perfect! But because of the love and encouragement we receive from each other, and the blessings and the power we receive from God, we believe others can come to know and believe in the Jesus as each of us live our lives for Him!
"To bring the Lost to Jesus, Equip God’s People to Serve, and Love One Another to Heaven, All for the Glory of God."
It is our mission to help people experience Christ. We hope people may grow strong in Christ and take Christ with them into the world. We believe in a church outside of the four walls of a building. It is our mission that our members will go out into the world to spread the word to everyone they connect with.
We see the church growing into a loving community of believers who have a passion to help others come into a saved relationship with Jesus, where He may be glorified in every area of our lives!
The church is divided into areas of ministry where we seek to incorporate all of our members to use the God-given gifts in a ministry where we can meet the physical and spiritual needs of all our members as well as the broader community. We therefore strive to integrate our ‘Mission’ into our lives as well as each area of ministry.
Come help us accomplish our Goals!
THE BIBLE
The Bible is God’s Word to all people. It was written by human authors under supernatural guidance by the Holy Spirit. It is the supreme and final authority for Christian beliefs and living. Because it is inspired by God, it is truth without any mixture of error in the original autographs.
THE HOLY SPIRIT
The Holy Spirit is equal with the Father and the Son as God. He is present in the world to make people aware of their need for Jesus Christ. He also lives in every Christian from the moment of salvation. He provides the Christian with power for living, understanding of spiritual truth, and guidance in doing what is right. The Christian seeks to live under His control daily.
THE RETURN OF CHRIST
We believe that the 2nd Coming of Jesus provides the motivation for remaining faithful to the Lord and for seeking to bring others into a saved relationship with Him. When Jesus returns it will bring to an end all the He created in Genesis 1. He will then create "new heavens and a new earth in which righteousness dwells," and where we will be with Him for all eternity.
SALVATION
We believe that salvation is a gift God purchased for man on the basis of the death of His Son on the cross. We further believe that while it is available for everyone, it will only be given to those who choose to obey the Lord’s plan of salvation; faith in Jesus, repentance from sin, confession of Jesus as Lord, baptism for the forgiveness of sins, living faithfully unto death.
DIVINITY
God is sovereign over all things such that there is no aspect of reality outside of His ultimate control. Though God’s rule extends to all things, it is particularly His sovereignty over the work of salvation that is a theological distinctive. We believe that it is exceedingly good and glorious news that salvation is not dependent on the desires and deeds of man but is grounded instead in God’s eternal decree of election.
BAPTISM
Baptism is intended only for those who have professed faith in Jesus Christ and can give sufficient testimony to the basics of Christian beliefs. Also, we baptize by immersion because it is not only the original significance of the word, but also best symbolizes the reality to which baptism points—our death and resurrection in Christ.
WHAT IS THE GOSPEL?
The gospel is the good news of God's grace invading the darkness of this world. It is the grand narrative of creation, fall, redemption and consummation ordained by God and orchestrated through the life, death, resurrection and ascension of Jesus Christ. Christ's crucifixion is the heart of the gospel. His resurrection is the power of the gospel. His ascension is the glory of the gospel.
AUTHENTICITY: We believe we can’t be what God has called us to be if we are not genuinely ourselves. We must be our true selves so that we make a connection with one another on a higher level.
BIBLICAL TRUTH: We believe the Bible is God’s inherent truth and it’s the foundation to everything we do.
COMMUNICATION: He used the current language and daily life experiences of those around him to communicate truth.
LIFE TOGETHER: We aren’t interested in being a place where a lot of people get together for an inspiring service but never move beyond the casual, arm’s distance relationships of an auditorium.
EXCELLENCE: We don’t believe in striving for unrealistic perfection. Real excellence is about bringing your best to God’s work and to life in general.
GROWTH: This is a safe place for everyone. But safe doesn’t mean comfortable. The answers aren’t always comfortable.
